Week 8

I have learned a lot about research in this course.  I never realized the number of steps that needed to be followed in order to collect reliable data.  It makes me appreciate the time researchers take to come up with their papers.
This course has been difficult for me.  I have not done anything with research in a long time so the readings as well as understanding how to apply the information has been difficult.   I have taken the comments from the professor and tried learning from my mistakes.
I wouldn’t say my perception of an early childhood professional has changed from what I have learned in this class.  I still believe it is a hard but worthwhile professional that unfortunately many people don’t take seriously.  So because of this reason, it is important for researchers to continue to investigate the early childhood field.

  1. Richelle,

I have to first start off by saying I absolutely love the picture you chose to put at the top of your blog! It is so refreshing and puts me in a happy mood (which I really needed right about now!). Like you, I also never realized how much thought and preparation went into planning a successful research design. WOW! I am overwhelmed with our research simulation, I could not imagine doing this on a larger and more detailed scale. This has been the hardest course for me too! I am not looking forward to checking the gradebook in a few days. Yikes! Good luck to you!

  2. Richelle,
I too was overwhelmed many times throughout this course. I think that I often took research for granted and never realized how much work was put into such studies. This class opened my eyes to that!

Do you think that you will use research more often in the early childhood profession now that you have learned more about it?
